U.S. Mint launches 2026 FIFA World Cup coins ahead of tournament
Surcharges will support military family youth soccer initiatives.
The excitement for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is reaching a fever pitch, and now soccer fans can secure a piece of history. The U.S. Mint has officially opened preorders for a new series of commemorative coins to honor the massive tournament, which is set to take place from June 11 to July 19 across host cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
A Specialized Collection
Collectors can choose from a variety of options, including $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins, and clad half-dollar coins crafted from copper and nickel layers. According to the Mint, these coins are expected to begin shipping in late July, with production runs strictly limited to 100,000 gold, 500,000 silver, and 750,000 clad pieces.
Stunning Designs
Each of these shared reverse designs features a powerful image of three hands hoisting the FIFA World Cup Trophy against a stars-and-stripes motif. The front of the gold coin features the globe as a soccer ball centered on North America, while the silver coin highlights a player in action and the clad coin depicts a dynamic bicycle kick.
Supporting a Great Cause
Prices for the collection range from $61 to $1,581. Each purchase includes a surcharge—$35 for gold, $10 for silver, and $5 for clad—which the U.S. Department of Treasury said in a June 1 release will directly benefit youth soccer initiatives for military families.
“I am proud of the hardworking men and women at the U.S. Mint that will create these beautiful coins to benefit the children of our men and women in uniform,” said Treasurer Brandon Beach. “Under President [Donald] Trump, we continue to celebrate American pride, spirit, and success during our 250th birthday.”
