9-Year-Old Boy Injured in Hit-and-Run While Walking to Birmingham School

Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a child in Birmingham. The accident occurred at 7:44 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Pike Road and Avenue T in Ensley.

According to Officer Truman Fitzgerald, the Minor Elementary School student was in the crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle.

The child, who sustained minor injuries, was taken for treatment in a private vehicle rather than by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

The Birmingham Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center is currently aiding in the investigation.
