A defiant Bo Nix defends his playing style as he returns from an ankle injury
Last season, Bo Nix threw 25 touchdowns and 3,931 yards as the Denver Broncos won the AFC West.
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is back at training camp and, despite a season-ending ankle injury suffered in last year's AFC divisional round game against Buffalo, he has no intention of changing his high-energy playing style.
Staying True to His Game
After suffering an ankle fracture on the final drive of that playoff game, many wondered if the signal-caller would play more conservatively. Nix shut down that narrative immediately.
"Absolutely not," Nix stated clearly. "I’m going to roll (out), I’m going to be as athletic as I can be. It’s a strength of ours and so we’ve got to use our strengths. For me that’s when I feel at my best, that’s when I feel free. When I’m playing like that, when I’m moving around, it’s a good thing."
Proven Production
Nix was a central figure in a Broncos offense that dominated last season, leading the team to an AFC West title and the No. 1 seed in the AFC bracket. He finished the campaign with 3,931 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, while adding 356 rushing yards and five additional scores on the ground.
Following the season, Nix underwent surgeries to repair his ankle fracture and address bone spurs. Head coach Sean Payton remains fully supportive of his quarterback’s dual-threat approach, describing it as one of his "super powers."
"It’s hard to sack some quarterbacks, and he’s one of them," Payton said after Saturday’s practice. "That was something we saw on college tape and in our league, when you take a sack, just do the analytics on it, getting points on that drive or likelihood to kick a field goal, it all drops dramatically."
Nix and the Broncos look to keep the momentum going when they kick off their preseason against the Atlanta Falcons on Aug. 14 in Atlanta.
