AHSAA softball: Live updates from Day 2 of state tournament in Oxford

The AHSAA state softball tournament is heating up at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, as Tuesday brings a mix of championship hopefuls and opening-round drama. While Class 6A and 4A continue their pursuit of titles, the Class 1A and 5A brackets officially get underway today.
Monday’s action saw Helena (Class 6A) and Orange Beach (Class 4A) secure their spots in the state championship games. Orange Beach, in particular, is looking to make history, as the team is aiming for an AHSAA-record sixth consecutive title this week. Tournament Format
Across the eight fields at Choccolocco Park, teams are battling through a demanding double-elimination format. With three games scheduled for each team today, the margin for error is slim. The winners bracket representative will advance to the final round, where they will wait for the survivor of the elimination bracket to decide who takes home the trophy at Signature Field.
Live Updates from Tuesday's Action
12:44 p.m.: Hartselle holds a 10-3 lead over Spain Park in the top of the sixth. The Jaguars managed to get on the board thanks to RBI singles from Chloe Wade and Reagan Roberts. Meanwhile, in 5A, the Moody Blue Devils are closing in on a win, holding an 8-4 lead over Faith Academy in the bottom of the sixth.
12:22 p.m.: Hartselle continues to dominate 6A play, leading Spain Park 10-0 after an RC Wolf sacrifice fly in the fourth. In 5A, Houston Academy holds a 2-0 advantage over Springville thanks to contributions from Shaylee Greathouse and Hayes Waddle.
11:52 a.m.: A tight matchup in 4A has the Plainview Bears up 1-0 over West Limestone in the third inning following Bri Sims' RBI single.
11:37 a.m.: Hartselle has surged to a 5-0 lead against Spain Park. Amelia Fox recorded a clutch 2-run triple, and Katie Norgard followed with an RBI single to extend the Tigers' momentum.
11:15 a.m.: Hartselle struck early against Spain Park, putting up two runs in the first behind an RC Wolf double and a sacrifice fly from Hatsumi Peterson.
11:06 a.m.: Kinston secured a run-rule victory over Skyline, punched in by a Lauren Norris bases-loaded walk.
10:47 a.m.: West Limestone’s Ali Blair delivered a dramatic walk-off RBI single to lift her team to a 2-1 win over American Christian in the 4A elimination bracket.
10:39 a.m.: Hackleburg (7-1 over Woodland) and Ider (5-0 over Leroy) have advanced in the 1A winners bracket.
9:57 a.m.: Early 1A games saw Maplesville jump to a 5-1 lead over Athens Bible, while Hackleburg opened up a 6-0 lead over Woodland in the second inning behind an explosive offensive display from Braylynne Pope, Bella Harper, and Payton Herron.
