Arrest warrant issued for NFL wide receiver after viral video
The 28-year-old receiver posted a video in January.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is currently the subject of an arrest warrant. Reports from ESPN and The San Francisco Standard confirm the 28-year-old is facing a misdemeanor charge for exhibition of speeding.
Viral Video Leads to Legal Trouble
The warrant stems from a video the NFL receiver uploaded to YouTube last December, in which he is seen operating his Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing at speeds exceeding 100 mph in a 40 mph zone. According to court records highlighted by PEOPLE, a filing dated Jan. 30 directly links Aiyuk to this traffic incident. This is not his first brush with traffic citations; records from Santa Clara County indicate three previous traffic violations dating back to February 2021.
Public Apology
In the aftermath of the video going viral, Aiyuk issued a public apology. "Sorry ya’ll, my car content won’t come with speeding anymore," Aiyuk stated in a post. "Was praying with my son tonight and wouldn’t want anybody else to miss out on an opportunity to do the same with their loved ones! My apologies."
Aiyuk has been absent from the 49ers roster since late last season, when he was placed on the reserve/left squad list.
