Birmingham brewery closing tasting gallery after 12 years: ‘Come raise a glass’

A staple of the Birmingham craft beer scene is winding down its local operations. TrimTab Brewing Co. announced it is officially closing its tasting gallery, marking the end of a 12-year run that helped define the city's brewery boom.

End of an Era

The brewery shared the news via social media, confirming that the Fifth Avenue South location will pour its final drinks on July 4. As 205focus.com reports, the team is encouraging the community to make the most of the remaining weeks.

"We invite you to come raise a glass, and enjoy some beer and community with us between now and July 4," the announcement stated. "As you are catching a last show in the B Side, grabbing some of your favorite cans to-go, testing your knowledge at Monday trivia, or simply enjoying a pint in the patio, know that we are grateful to the Birmingham community and beyond."

Legacy and Future

Since opening its doors in the Lakeview neighborhood in early 2014, TrimTab became an award-winning fixture of the Magic City, eventually launching its signature canned beer in 2015. While the tasting room is shuttering, the brewery confirmed that fans can still find TrimTab IPA and Paradise Now in select markets, with further updates to follow.

The closure reflects a broader shift for Alabama’s craft brewery scene, which proliferated more than a decade ago. Much like the industry on a national scale, local breweries are facing ongoing pressure from changing drinking cultures and challenging economic factors.
