Birmingham contractor begins work on $65 million headquarters expansion

Construction is officially underway on a massive $65 million expansion of the Brasfield & Gorrie headquarters in Birmingham’s Lakeview district. This ambitious project aims to modernize the firm's operations and solidify its long-standing commitment to the Magic City.

Project Details

The expansion features a new four-story, 88,000-square-foot building designed to house additional office space and conference rooms. According to project timelines, completion is slated for the first quarter of 2028.

Economic Impact

Beyond just square footage, this development serves as a significant boost to the local economy. Brasfield & Gorrie anticipates creating at least 80 new full-time roles, offering an average salary of $82,000.

Rooted in Birmingham

CEO Rob Blalock highlighted the company's 60-year history in the region, noting that their dedication to Birmingham is stronger than ever. "We’re investing in this city’s future by expanding our workforce, growing our footprint and putting our resources where our roots are," Blalock said. He added that the goal is to provide a premier environment for talent to thrive.

The project received support from the city of Birmingham, Jefferson County, and the state of Alabama. This expansion follows the recent completion of a fourth level on the company's headquarters parking deck. Last year, the company also completed a Field Training Center near Irondale, as reported previously by 205focus.com.
