Midfield has officially ushered in a new era for its law enforcement department. Mayor Terry Adams announced on Thursday that Michael Jeffries has been appointed as the city’s new police chief, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of Chief Jesse Bell earlier this year.

A Proven Track Record

Jeffries is no stranger to the Midfield Police Department, having served the force for the past 14 years. Before stepping into the role of chief, he held the rank of lieutenant. His dedication to service extends beyond local law enforcement as well; he has served six years in the Army National Guard, including two deployments to Afghanistan.

A Shared Vision for Midfield

The city council showed strong support for the appointment, voting unanimously to confirm Jeffries. Following the vote, Mayor Adams expressed his full confidence in the new chief, stating that he expects Jeffries to lead the City of Midfield to new heights after years of dedicated service.

In his own remarks, Jeffries expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community. “It is an honor to serve as chief of police for the City of Midfield and its communities,” Jeffries said. “I look forward to working alongside our officers, city leadership, residents, and business owners to continue building community relationships, strengthening officer training and accountability, along with improving operational efficiency and public safety strategies.”
