A man succumbed to his injuries after a fire engulfed his Birmingham home on Monday.
The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service received a call around 11:30 a.m. about a person trapped inside a burning house located in the 900 block of 51st Street.
According to witnesses and authorities, both the man and his wife initially escaped the fire safely. However, the man re-entered the home for unknown reasons and did not make it out again.
