Birmingham police shoot, kill wanted teen, multiple guns recovered

A confrontation between Birmingham police and a group of wanted suspects turned fatal Wednesday night. According to information reported by 205focus.com, the incident resulted in the death of 19-year-old Xavier Marquez Gray.
The Incident
The shooting took place shortly after 9:30 p.m. in a parking lot near the Circle K located in the 100 block of B.Y. Williams Sr. Drive in Midfield. Officers were actively searching for two suspects linked to multiple violent felony crimes at the time of the encounter.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade reported that as police units closed in on a suspect vehicle, one of the wanted individuals stepped out, leading to the exchange of gunfire. While authorities have yet to disclose the specific circumstances that initiated the police response, the situation escalated rapidly.
Aftermath and Investigation
First responders initiated CPR on the scene before transporting Gray to UAB Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The coroner’s office has officially identified the victim as Xavier Marquez Gray, a Birmingham resident.
In addition to the deceased, three other individuals who were inside the vehicle were transported to police headquarters for questioning. Law enforcement officials confirmed that multiple firearms were recovered from the scene. The Birmingham Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation into the shooting, and no further details have been released at this time.
