A routine call regarding a vehicle abandoned in the roadway has led to a grim discovery in east Alabama. Authorities are currently investigating the deaths of two individuals located in a wooded area near the scene.

Investigation Underway

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) officially identified the victims on Friday as 47-year-old Jessica Folds of Lanett and 44-year-old Daniel Robbins of Macon, Georgia. The investigation into their deaths was initiated after Chambers County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a car left in the road in the 1000 block of County Road 86 at approximately 12:20 p.m. this past Wednesday.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies conducted a search of the immediate vicinity and located Folds and Robbins in the nearby woods. Their remains have since been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death, which have not yet been disclosed.

Authorities Seek Information

According to ALEA Capt. Jeremy Burkett, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has assumed the lead on the probe. While no further details regarding the circumstances of the incident have been made public at this time, officials are urging the community to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
