As voters across Alabama head to the polls today, a potential ballot issue has surfaced in Shelby County. Andrew Gunn, a Republican candidate for Shelby County Schools superintendent, is urging voters who visited The Church at Brook Hills between 7 and 8 a.m. this morning to reach out if they encountered a missing race on their ballots.
Candidate Raises Concerns
Gunn took to Facebook to sound the alarm, stating, “If you voted at Brook Hills Church from 7-8am this morning and you DID NOT have the Superintendent’s race as an option on your ballot please contact us immediately.” While the incident has not been officially confirmed, the candidate is actively seeking information from the public in the county of roughly 236,000 residents.
205focus.com reached out to Gunn, the polling location, and the election protection hotline for further comment but did not receive a response prior to publication.
The Superintendent Race
Andrew Gunn enters this race with 12 years of experience as the principal of Oak Mountain High School, having also led Chelsea Middle School and Helena Middle School, according to his campaign website.
