Class 6A state champion places 5 players on AHSAA girls coaches All-State team

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) coaches have spoken, and Class 6A state champion Northridge sits at the forefront of this year's girls All-State soccer team.

Northridge’s championship run is well-reflected in the postseason honors. Tournament MVP and senior goalkeeper Kiley Brewer leads the charge on the first team, alongside senior midfielder Maddie McVeagh and senior defender Ann Cade Eddings. The accolades continue for the program with junior forward Maddy VanDerlyke and sophomore midfielder Bayne Brown securing spots on the second team.

Mountain Brook, which dominated the coaches' 6A poll for six weeks and reached the playoff quarterfinals before falling to state runner-up Homewood, boasted a strong showing with three first-team selections and one representative on the second team. Briarwood Christian and Helena also flexed their competitive muscle, each landing two players on the first team and one on the second.

Class 6A All-State First Team

Forwards: Olivia Malozzi (Sophomore, Spanish Fort), Taylor Matthews (Junior, Briarwood Christian), Lucy Travis (Senior, St. Paul’s), Emma Barran (Sophomore, Hartselle), Meagan Tucker (Senior, Homewood), and Eva Allen (Freshman, Cullman).

Midfielders: JK Longnecker (Junior, Pike Road), Sophie Hicks (Senior, Mountain Brook), Baileigh Rumage (Senior, Helena), Ellie Rushing (Sophomore, Briarwood Christian), Brooke Bell (Senior, Pell City), Anna Mayor (Senior, Mountain Brook), Cara Beth Nelson (Senior, Hartselle), and Maddie McVeagh (Senior, Northridge).

Defenders: Ann Cade Eddings (Senior, Northridge), Lorelai Wei (Junior, Mountain Brook), Hannah Garner (Senior, Hazel Green), Laura Russell (Senior, Chelsea), Claire Robinson (Senior, Pelham), and Addison Foxworth (Senior, Helena).

Goalkeepers: Kiley Brewer (Senior, Northridge) and Olivia Palfreeman (Senior, Chelsea).

Class 6A All-State Second Team

Forwards: Fiyin Oguntuyo (Senior, Gadsden City), Peyton Rudolph (Senior, St. Paul’s), Layne Tarokh (Junior, Athens), Kate Hendrix (Senior, Helena), Maddy VanDerlyke (Junior, Northridge), and Amelia Whittemore (Junior, Pike Road).

Midfielders: Alice Moore (Sophomore, St. Paul’s), Anne Collins Daniel (Freshman, Spanish Fort), Hayden Kessler (Senior, Spanish Fort), Lily Lambert (Senior, Cullman), Bayne Brown (Sophomore, Northridge), Reagan Brooks (Junior, Gadsden City), Natalie Peacock (Senior, Chelsea), and Maddy Henry (Junior, Cullman).
