Jax State baseball heading to Hattiesburg Regional
The Gamecocks earned the No. 3 seed in the regional hosted by Southern Miss, which claimed the Sun Belt Conference tournament title.
Jacksonville State is officially postseason-bound. The Gamecocks are headed to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to kick off their NCAA baseball tournament campaign.
Tournament Outlook
As the No. 3 seed in the Hattiesburg Regional, the Gamecocks join a competitive field hosted by Southern Miss, who enters as the No. 9 overall seed in the nation. The regional action is set to begin on Friday, May 29.
The bracket also features No. 2 seed Virginia (36-21), which comes off an appearance in the ACC tournament quarterfinals, and No. 4 seed Little Rock (36-26), the reigning OVC tournament champions.
Momentum for the Gamecocks
Jax State enters the tournament with a stellar 46-13 record. The team arrives with significant momentum after a dominant performance where they run-ruled Liberty 10-0 in the Conference USA tournament championship on Sunday. The Gamecocks hold a No. 25 spot in the RPI rankings, just ahead of No. 26 Virginia.
This appearance marks a milestone for the program, representing its fifth NCAA regional berth since transitioning to the Division I level and its first postseason trip since 2019. In their last appearance, the Gamecocks enjoyed a strong run to the Oxford Regional final, securing victories over Clemson and Illinois before ultimately falling to Ole Miss.
Conference USA Presence
Jax State stands as one of three Conference USA programs represented in this year’s 64-team field. While the Gamecocks head to Hattiesburg, Liberty will head to the Athens Regional hosted by Georgia, and Missouri State is set to compete in the Lawrence Regional at Kansas.
