Alabama high school baseball: Auburn’s late rally forces Game 3 vs. Enterprise
In a top five battle in Class 7A, Auburn and Enterprise split their doubleheader Monday in Troy.
After a four-day weather delay, No. 5 Auburn and No. 3 Enterprise finally hit the field for their Class 7A quarterfinal showdown on Monday. After two dramatic games at Troy University’s Riddle-Pace Field, the series remains deadlocked, forcing a winner-take-all finale on Tuesday.
Game 2: Auburn’s Massive Comeback
Auburn stayed alive in the postseason by staging a stunning rally in the nightcap. Facing an 8-3 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tigers exploded for seven runs to flip the script and secure a 10-8 victory. Angelo Santiago and Bryson Sheppard fueled the offense, each finishing with two hits and two RBIs.
On the mound, Jake Haney provided stability in relief. As the fourth pitcher used by Auburn, Haney earned the win by throwing 2.1 innings, allowing only one hit and striking out one. For Enterprise, Brady Cavanaugh went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Davis Shiver also drove in a pair of runs. Lint Sawyer took the loss in relief for the Wildcats.
Game 1: Enterprise Wins in Extras
The opening game of the doubleheader was a defensive struggle that required extra innings. Both teams traded three runs in the first inning and remained scoreless until the bottom of the eighth. Enterprise secured a 4-3 walk-off win when Brady Cavanaugh scored on an Auburn error.
Despite the loss, Auburn out-hit Enterprise 7-3. B. Farr went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Brady Sack and Lawson Hare each tallied two hits. Lint Sawyer earned the win in the opener with two hitless innings of relief, following a strong start from Davis Shiver. Max Autrey was the hard-luck loser for the Tigers.
Deciding Game 3
The quarterfinal series shifts to Enterprise for the deciding Game 3, scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will advance to the state semifinals later this week to face Central-Phenix City.
