‘Duck Dynasty’ star reveals baby’s ‘underlying’ health condition after choking

Sadie Robertson, widely known for her time on Duck Dynasty, has opened up about a frightening medical journey involving her 8-month-old daughter, Kit. After enduring two alarming choking incidents, the infant was officially diagnosed with severe laryngomalacia.

Understanding the Diagnosis

The terrifying episodes were determined to be the result of aspiration, which occurs when a child pulls food into their airway or lungs. Robertson and her husband, Christian, discussed the ordeal on a recent episode of her Whoa That’s Good podcast, noting that the reality of the situation became clear when they realized it was more than just standard choking.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, while laryngomalacia is common in infants, severe cases can lead to difficulty swallowing, trouble gaining weight, and dangerous breathing pauses. Fortunately, the condition is treatable through surgery.

Finding Strength in Faith and Community

Earlier this month, the A&E star shared that her daughter had an underlying medical condition, reflecting on the profound impact the situation has had on her family. "This past month has marked us in a way that will take a while to unpack," she posted. "It has tested faith, and strengthened it. We’ve seen things that brought a lot of trauma, and also seen miracles on miracles that I’ll tell stories about forever!"

Robertson expressed deep gratitude for the support system surrounding them, including medical professionals, her community, and her faith. In addition to Kit, Robertson and Huff are parents to two other daughters, Honey, 4, and Haven, 2. The couple is currently working closely with a dedicated team of doctors and therapists to manage Kit’s ongoing care.
