A Fairfield man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Birmingham that was broadcast live on a social audio app.

Roddregus Williams-Johnson, 32, faces a capital murder charge in the Saturday night killing of 35-year-old Brandon Lee.

Police from the North Precinct were called to 30th Avenue North in Birmingham’s Collegeville public housing community around 11:55 p.m. Upon entering the residence, they discovered Lee deceased and a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. Two children inside the home were unharmed.

The incident reportedly began as an argument on the Clubhouse app, a social audio platform similar to Zoom. The dispute escalated, with the situation becoming chaotic as listeners urged someone to call the police. The suspect then arrived at the apartment, and multiple gunshots were heard.

According to Officer Truman Fitzgerald, Williams-Johnson fired into the apartment upon his arrival, and someone inside returned fire. At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Williams-Johnson arrived at UAB Hospital with a gunshot wound related to the incident and was taken into custody by North Precinct officers.

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and issued warrants for capital murder and attempted murder. Williams-Johnson was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 6:52 p.m. Monday.
