Freddy from Germany isn’t done with Alabama or Ella Langley: ‘I could live here’
After a brief detour to Florida, the globe-trotting World Cup visitor enjoyed a Gulf Coast sunset.
He just couldn't stay away.
As 205focus.com reported on Wednesday, Freddy, a globe-trotting German soccer fan, captured hearts during his visit for the Argentina-Iceland World Cup showdown at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Now, he's continuing his American odyssey with the same enthusiasm that brought him to an Auburn Buc-ee’s at 1 a.m.
From the Plains to the Coast
Freddy has been documenting his stateside journey on X, filling his itinerary with quintessential American experiences ranging from Walmart runs and Lookout Mountain views to a rafting excursion on the Chattahoochee River. After leaving Auburn, he headed south, making a quick, sun-drenched stop in Florida where he couldn't resist a visit to a namesake Freddy’s Steakburgers location.
As the miles rolled by, he found a new favorite soundtrack. “The best discovery of our road trip has been a musician called Ella Langley,” he wrote. “We had never heard of her before, but after hearing her on pretty much every country radio station, we’ve become big fans. She’s basically the soundtrack of our trip.”
Hooked on Alabama
After stopping at a picturesque, undisclosed beach, Freddy eventually wound up in Fairhope as the sun began to dip. The charm of the moss-covered trees and waterfront homes clearly made an impression.
“I could live here,” Freddy noted, acknowledging that his camera struggled to capture the true beauty of the sunset. After settling into his hotel for some Chipotle and a bit of Spurs-Knicks on TV, his sights are now set on Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas—though he seems at least half-tempted to stay right here in Alabama.
