Jacksonville State set to host 2027 Conference USA softball tournament
Jax State was one of four future host sites approved by the league.
Fresh off an impressive Conference USA championship run, Jacksonville State is set to keep the excitement at home. The league officially announced during its recent spring meetings that the Gamecocks have been tapped to host the 2027 CUSA softball tournament at Jana McGinnis Field.
Expansion and Future Hosting
Jax State stands as one of four schools selected by the league to host major future events. Joining them in the hosting rotation, Sam Houston is slated for the 2028 softball tournament, Kennesaw State will handle volleyball, and Middle Tennessee will host women’s soccer.
A Premier Venue
Jana McGinnis Field, which boasts a capacity of 2,000, is no stranger to high-stakes action. Beyond college play, the facility recently served as an alternate host for AHSAA softball championships due to weather, successfully staging the Class 7A and 3A championship games this season. Furthermore, the National Junior College Athletic Association recently confirmed that Jacksonville State, in partnership with Oxford’s Choccolocco Park, will host the NJCAA Division I and Division II Softball World Series annually from 2028 through 2034.
Building on Momentum
This hosting nod follows a banner year for the program. The Gamecocks (45-16) dominated the regular season and captured the league crown by beating Liberty 7-4 in the tournament title game. While the team eventually saw its postseason run halted in the Tallahassee Regional after falling to Florida State in elimination bracket play, 205focus.com readers can expect the Gamecocks to remain a powerhouse as they prepare for their turn to host the conference tournament in 2027.
