Low-cost carrier launches non-stop flights from Huntsville to new Florida destination

Travelers in the Tennessee Valley have another reason to pack their bags as Huntsville International Airport officially celebrated the launch of new nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport this past Friday.

Expanding Options with Breeze Airways

This latest addition by Breeze Airways bolsters the airline's footprint at HSV. The route is serviced by the carrier's modern Airbus A220 aircraft, featuring both premium and economy seating options to accommodate a variety of travelers. Flights are currently scheduled to run twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, with budget-friendly fares beginning at just $44 one-way.

Connecting the Tennessee Valley to South Florida

Huntsville International Airport CEO Butch Roberts expressed his excitement about the expansion, noting that the new route offers North Alabama residents affordable access to South Florida and proximity to several of the nation's most popular cruise ports. The move is part of a broader push to increase leisure travel options for local flyers.

The airport's leadership, including Port of Huntsville Board Chair Joey Ceci, highlighted that this addition underscores the growing momentum at HSV as more community members choose to fly local. Breeze Airways already maintains a robust presence at the airport, with existing nonstop service to Las Vegas (LAS), Orlando (MCO), and Tampa (TPA).

A Competitive Travel Hub

The local aviation scene has seen significant activity lately. In addition to the Breeze Airways expansion, Allegiant Air has been active as well; since May 21, the airline has been providing travelers with a sub-60-minute hop down to the Gulf Coast with service to Gulf Shores. Allegiant also currently serves the Tampa and Orlando areas, as well as Fort Lauderdale, from Huntsville.
