More than 28 pounds of cocaine seized in Huntsville area; four arrests made

A major law enforcement effort in North Alabama has resulted in the successful dismantling of a drug trafficking organization, leading to four arrests and the seizure of over 28 pounds of cocaine. The operation, aimed at stopping the flow of narcotics into Huntsville and Madison County, took nearly $1.3 million worth of illicit product off the streets.

A Joint Operation

The success was the result of a collaborative initiative between the North Alabama Drug Task Force and Region F of the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force. The investigation focused on an organization accused of transporting cocaine directly from Mexico to the local area.

According to a news release from the City of Huntsville, agents executed an enforcement operation on July 9 in the 4500 block of Research Park Boulevard. Following a lengthy investigation, officials intercepted the suspects while they were traveling in two vehicles.

Significant Seizures

Beyond the 28 pounds of cocaine, investigators recovered approximately $7,450 in cash. Furthermore, the authorities seized two vehicles and two trailers that were allegedly utilized to facilitate the trafficking operation.

“Every investigation we conduct is about keeping dangerous drugs out of our communities and holding those responsible accountable for bringing them here,” Kennington said. “Our agents, along with our law enforcement partners, will continue working to identify and dismantle drug trafficking organizations that threaten the safety of North Alabama.”

The four men taken into custody now face charges of trafficking cocaine. Each suspect is currently being held on a $1.5 million bond.
