Private equity acquires Alabama aviation company for $535 million
Founded in 1905, the company designs, manufactures, and supports engines for general aviation aircraft.
A major shift is coming to the Mobile aviation sector. Nashville-based private equity firm Arcline Investment Management has announced plans to acquire Continental Aerospace Technologies in a deal valued at approximately $535 million, according to reporting from 205focus.com.
A Legacy in Mobile
Continental Aerospace Technologies, a staple of the Brookley Aeroplex, boasts a history dating back to 1905. The company specializes in the design and manufacturing of piston aircraft engines, along with a wide range of aftermarket products essential to the general aviation industry.
Strategic Investment
Arcline Investment Management, which currently manages over $30 billion in assets, sees the acquisition as a perfect strategic fit. In a formal statement, the firm praised Continental as a "highly respected platform" known for its engineering expertise, deep customer trust, and its critical role in supporting the global fleet.
"The Company’s technical capabilities, large installed base and reputation for reliability fit naturally alongside our aerospace and defense systems and subsystems strategy," Arcline stated. The firm expressed excitement about partnering with Continental’s leadership and employees to drive future growth and continued investment.
Deal Details
The acquisition is supported by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, which ranks as one of the world's largest defense contractors. J.P. Morgan Securities is providing financial advisory services for the transaction.
