Rams, Browns finalizing blockbuster trade involving superstar defender, report says
Myles Garrett would head to L.A. for Jared Verse, multiple picks
The NFL landscape is shaking up as superstar pass-rusher Myles Garrett is reportedly headed to the Los Angeles Rams in a major trade with the Cleveland Browns.
The Details of the Blockbuster Deal
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams are sending Pro Bowl edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft choice, and additional compensation to Cleveland to acquire the 30-year-old Garrett. This move arrives roughly 15 months after Garrett signed a massive four-year, $160 million extension with the Browns following his initial trade request.
A Decorated Career in Transition
Garrett, the No. 1 overall pick out of Texas A&M in 2017, has been a force throughout his nine-season career. He enters the Rams organization as a five-time first-team All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection with 125.5 career sacks. His production reached historic heights last year, when he set an NFL record with 23 sacks.
Despite his individual accolades, including NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023 and 2025, Garrett has grown increasingly frustrated with the Browns' lack of postseason success, as the team has made only two playoff appearances during his tenure and finished last season at 5-12.
New Horizons for the Rams
By acquiring the veteran star, the Rams aim to capitalize on a momentum shift after reaching the NFC championship game in 2025. Los Angeles is parting with the 25-year-old Verse, who has established himself as a premier talent by earning Pro Bowl honors in both of his first two seasons after being named the 2024 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
