Auburn to do an eagle flight ahead of international soccer friendly in Jordan-Hare Stadium
Aurea will expand the Tigers pregame eagle flight tradition to the FIFA stage inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Jordan-Hare Stadium is gearing up for a high-profile international showcase as it prepares to host a soccer friendly between Argentina and Iceland. With the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the venue is set to provide a world-class stage for this matchup.
A Uniquely Auburn Pregame
Auburn deputy athletic director and chief revenue officer Rhett Hobart confirmed on Friday that the university plans to bring its most iconic tradition to the pitch. Fans in attendance can expect a signature eagle flight during pregame festivities on Tuesday.
"We pitched the eagle flight to the promoters of this event at the very beginning," Hobart explained. "When you have an event like this in Jordan-Hare Stadium, you want to make sure you have all the uniqueness. Soccer is celebrated all across the world with how they do their pregame walkouts and all the pregame festivities. So, how do we give that a uniquely Auburn flare?"
Adapting for the Global Stage
The transition to the international soccer stage required a few logistical adjustments. According to Hobart, the eagle's flight path has been modified to accommodate a full 360-degree LED screen installed around the field. Beyond the flight, attendees can look forward to various other displays designed to highlight Auburn’s storied traditions.
Since its inception in 2000, the eagle flight has become a mandatory staple for Auburn football home games, having recently celebrated its 25th anniversary last fall.
Tuesday’s match, which serves as the final friendly in "The Road to 26" series, is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Stay tuned to 205focus.com for more coverage on this major sporting event.
