Suzanne Moore Snider, a familiar voice to local listeners for over three decades, has passed away at the age of 64. According to her official obituary, Snider died Friday at Coosa Valley Medical Center.
A Legacy on the Airwaves
Snider’s journey in radio began in the 1990s at WHMA-FM, then known as “Alabama 100.” After stepping away from the industry for a period, she made a triumphant return a decade ago as the midday host for The Big 95 WHMA. Her consistent presence and warm personality cemented her status as a staple of the local media landscape.
Remembering a Radio Icon
The station shared a heartfelt tribute to their colleague in a post on Facebook this Sunday. The team at The Big 95 expressed their heartbreak, noting that Snider was an incredible human who brought joy to everyone she encountered throughout her career.
The impact of her passing reached far beyond the studio. On Monday, the Alabama Broadcasters Association shared a message on Facebook offering thoughts and prayers to her family, friends, and coworkers as they navigate this difficult time.
Personal Life
Outside of her professional life, Snider was a devoted family member and animal lover. She is survived by her husband, Jim Snider, her sisters, Sharon Downing and Sandra Moore, as well as her niece, Shaylyn Downing, and nephew, Ridge Downing. She will also be remembered for the deep affection she held for her two dogs and her cat.
