State’s largest steel subcontractor expands in north Alabama

Alabama’s largest steel subcontractor is expanding its Decatur operations. FabArc Steel Supply, in a lease purchase agreement with Turner Industries, will locate in a Turner fabrication facility at 127 Old Alabama 24 in Decatur. The facility has 60,000 square feet of fabrication space on approximately 29 acres to support continued growth in the Tennessee Valley. About 35 employees will be added for the facility’s fabrication operations, which are being scaled to meeting increasing demand. The transition of the facility is expected to be completed by May 11. Under the terms of the agreement, FabArc will lease the facility with an option to purchase at the end of the lease term. Turner Industries will retain access to the facility as needed to support existing contracted work, ensuring continuity for current projects and clients. Turner Industries CEO Stephen Toups said the company is transitioning to a flexible, region-wide operational model. “Our address in the area will change, but our commitment to the Tennessee Valley and our clients in the region is as strong as ever,” he said. “We will continue supporting the industry and surrounding communities in the same way we have for over a decade.” FabArc Steel Supply President Tom Adams said the deal has a long-term potential for both companies. “We view this agreement as more than a strategic expansion, it marks the beginning of a strong and lasting relationship between FabArc and Turner Industries,” Adams said. “This opportunity allows us to build on an established foundation in Decatur while continuing to deliver high-quality fabrication services to our clients.”
