Trump RX adds 160 more drugs: What’s new on the discount list?

The federal platform for discount medications is expanding significantly. More than 150 prescription drugs have been added to the Trump administration’s platform, pushing the total number of generic medications available on the list to over 800.

Expanded Access to Discounted Meds

Trump noted on Truth Social that TrumpRX is designed to provide transparent, discounted pricing for four out of every five prescriptions filled by Americans.

Since its launch in February with an initial list of 43 medications, the site has evolved to help patients bypass insurance middlemen. According to the White House, the platform allows users to compare the competitive cash prices of their medications directly against the co-pays offered by their insurance providers.

How the Pricing Works

The portal aggregates pricing information from local pharmacies as well as delivery options through private programs like Amazon, Cost Plus Drugs, and GoodRx. These listings are distinct from discounts on high-cost branded medications, which are managed through Most-Favored-Nation agreements. Under this framework, drugmakers are prohibited from charging prices for specific brand-name medications that are lower than the net price paid by other developing nations.

Checking Your Prescription Costs

The list of available medications includes widely used drugs such as atorvastatin for cholesterol, clopidogrel for blood thinning, lisinopril for high blood pressure, and metformin for diabetes. The platform also includes pricing for popular weight-loss treatments, including Wegovy.
