Taylor Swift’s country track to drop, appear on summer blockbuster soundtrack: ‘I fell instantly’

Taylor Swift is heading to the big screen. The music icon announced on Monday that she has recorded an original song for the upcoming Disney and Pixar summer blockbuster, Toy Story 5.

A New Country Track

Sharing the news with fans on X, Swift revealed the title of her new track: I Knew It, I Knew You. The song is scheduled for release on June 5, just ahead of the film’s official premiere on June 19.

I Knew It, I Knew You marks Swift's first new release following her record-breaking project, The Life of a Showgirl.

Creative Inspiration

Reflecting on the opportunity to contribute to a franchise she has loved since childhood, Swift expressed genuine excitement. "I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie," she shared. "I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?"

For this project, Swift teamed up once again with producer Jack Antonoff. According to the studio's announcement, the song draws inspiration from the enduring journey of the character Jessie, which began back in Toy Story 2.
