Taylor Swift is heading to the big screen. The music superstar announced on Monday that her latest track will be featured on the highly anticipated soundtrack for Toy Story 5.
A New Country Track
Swift broke the news on X, confirming that her new original song, titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” is set for release on June 5. “It’s a Toy Story,” she teased in her post. “You knew it!”
The single marks Swift's first new release following the success of her record-breaking project, The Life of a Showgirl. Disney and Pixar confirmed the song will drop this Friday, serving as a lead-up to the film’s official theatrical release on June 19.
Inspired by an Icon
For Swift, contributing to the franchise is a dream realized. She shared that she has adored the series since she was five years old. After catching an early screening of the film, she felt an immediate connection to the story, leading her to write the song right after she got home. “I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5,” she noted. “Sometimes you just know, right?”
The track reunites Swift with longtime producer Jack Antonoff. According to the official release, the song draws inspiration from the long-standing journey of the beloved character Jessie, whose arc began in Toy Story 2.
