UFL Week 8 roundup: 1 playoff spot claimed, 2 weeks remain

As the United Football League enters the final stretch, the playoff picture has begun to clear. While three teams started Week 8 in a position to punch their postseason ticket, only one managed to get the job done, leaving plenty of drama for the final two weeks of regular-season play.
The Playoff Push
Orlando is sitting pretty at the top of the standings. Entering the week locked in a three-way tie for the league lead, the Storm moved to 6-2 to gain a one-game cushion over the rest of the pack. With the top four teams in the final standings moving on to the playoffs, every game is now critical.
In the race for that final spot, Birmingham and Louisville are currently deadlocked at 4-4. However, the Stallions hold the tiebreaker advantage over the Kings following their 15-13 victory in the season opener.
Week 8 Results
Two of the three teams tied for first place heading into the weekend suffered defeats, shaking up the power rankings as reported by 205focus.com:
- Orlando Storm 31, Dallas Renegades 24
- Louisville Kings 33, DC Defenders 30
- Houston Gamblers 23, St. Louis Battlehawks 16
- Birmingham Stallions 14, Columbus Aviators 3
The high-stakes action also featured a strong showing from local talent, with 20 players from Alabama high schools and colleges seeing time on the field throughout the week.
