Walmart adds an unexpected delivery service and it could make life easier
Customers in selected markets will see the options in the Walmart app or online.
Grocery delivery has long been a game-changer for busy households, but Walmart is raising the bar. According to 205focus.com, the retail giant is now bringing its in-store dining options directly to your doorstep.
Subway Comes to Your Door
In a major shift away from traditional third-party food apps, Walmart has announced that customers in select areas can now order from Subway directly through the official Walmart app or Walmart.com. Whether you are placing a standalone order or adding a sub to your existing Walmart Express Delivery, the company promises arrival in 30 minutes or less.
"Subway has always been focused on making freshly made, quality meals accessible to customers wherever they are," said Damien Harmon, President of Subway North America. "The integration of Subway delivery into the Walmart app and Walmart.com is a natural evolution of our 20-year relationship built on a shared commitment to value, freshness and everyday convenience."
Pricing and Availability
For those looking to take advantage of the service, orders come with a flat Walmart Express Delivery fee of $10. Walmart noted that menu pricing will match in-restaurant costs, with select exclusive items available depending on the location.
While the program is currently rolling out with Subway, the retail chain intends to eventually expand the service to cover all restaurants located within its stores. The initiative is already live in select markets across Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Plans are in place to scale the service to roughly 1,400 locations by the end of this summer.
To check if this service is available in your area, simply log in to your account on the Walmart app or website; eligible customers will see the Subway ordering option based on their saved address.
