Watch Taylor Swift, Randy Newman in surprise performance at ‘Toy Story 5’ premiere of iconic song
Swift also performed her new release.
Taylor Swift brought a surprise spark to the world premiere of Toy Story 5 on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, treating the audience to a special live performance.
A Musical Highlight at the Premiere
Swift took to the piano to perform her new single, "I Knew It, I Knew You," which is featured on the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. Expressing her enthusiasm for the project, Swift told the audience, per Variety, that being part of the film franchise means the world to her. She described the upcoming movie as "insanely beautiful" and a "masterpiece," noting that it is her favorite entry in the series.
The performance reached a high point when Swift was joined by Randy Newman for a rendition of the iconic song, "You’ve Got a Friend in Me." Before the musical set, Swift walked the red carpet alongside legendary cast members including Tom Hanks and Joan Cusack.
About the New Soundtrack Release
Released this past Friday, "I Knew It, I Knew You" signals a return to Swift’s country music roots. Many consider her 2012 album Red to be her last official foray into the genre, though it featured a blend of crossover styles. This track serves as her first original material since the October release of "The Life of a Showgirl."
The track reunites Swift with frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, who co-produced the song. The pair have worked together extensively from 2014’s 1989 through 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department. While most of their collaborations occurred after Swift’s primary country era, there were rare exceptions like "Betty" from her 2020 album Folklore.
