After making an appearance at Monday’s Game 3 of the NBA Finals, it appears President Donald Trump’s involvement with the series will be limited to that single outing.
No Trump at Game 4
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the native New Yorker is not expected to be in attendance for Wednesday night's Game 4. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
The President’s visit to Game 3 coincided with a pivotal moment in the series. The San Antonio Spurs edged out the New York Knicks 115-111, effectively snapping the Knicks' impressive 13-game postseason winning streak. Despite the loss, the Knicks hold a 2-1 series lead over the Spurs.
A Hostile Reception at MSG
Trump, who was a frequent face at Madison Square Garden prior to taking office, arrived Monday to a chilly reception. The crowd at MSG loudly booed the President during the national anthem. He was spotted in a luxury box alongside Knicks owner James Dolan and members of his administration.
While President Trump's Wednesday schedule remains under wraps, the impact of his visit was felt by fans throughout the arena. Beyond the game itself, the night was defined by the cancellation of several fan events around MSG and intense, TSA-style security screenings that attendees had to navigate to enter the venue.
