Work to begin on Hoover healthcare project

Hoover is set to see a significant expansion in its medical infrastructure as work kicks off on a major new healthcare development.

Breaking Ground on South Haven Surgical Plaza

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for this Friday for the South Haven Surgical Plaza. This ambitious four-story, 80,000-square-foot facility is designed to bolster the area's medical capabilities with a 25-bed surgery center and specialized medical offices.

Situated on an 18.4-acre site near Interstate 459 and John Hawkins Parkway, the plaza will feature an outpatient surgery center equipped with six operating rooms and two procedure rooms. Additionally, the facility will offer advanced imaging and diagnostic suites alongside Class A clinical office space. The project is being developed by Broad Metro.

Expanding the Stadium Trace Village Footprint

This new facility marks a pivotal part of the second phase of Stadium Trace Village, which is also slated to include a senior living community and new recreational areas.

The broader Stadium Trace Village site has been a major engine for growth in Hoover. Since work began on the 44-acre first phase in 2018, the project has seen more than $150 million in investment. Broad Metro reports that the development generates over $73 million in direct sales annually, with total sales exceeding $252 million since 2019.

Economic Impact and Future Growth

The upcoming expansion of Stadium Trace Village is expected to be a substantial economic driver. According to Broad Metro, the second phase will generate over 300 construction jobs and add more than 500 permanent positions across the retail, hospitality, entertainment, healthcare, and service sectors. Once operational, the project is projected to generate approximately $50 million in annual sales.
