The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is currently investigating a fatal multi-vehicle collision that occurred Saturday morning in Blount County. 205focus.com continues to monitor the situation as authorities work to piece together the details of the incident.

Crash Details

The tragic accident took place at approximately 9:30 a.m. on May 16 along U.S. 31 near the 304 mile marker, roughly five miles west of Hayden. According to an official news release, 51-year-old Blountsville resident Jason R. Kirk was killed when the 2024 Ford Bronco he was operating was struck by a 2026 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 68-year-old Douglas E. Knot of Townley.

Additional Information

Investigators determined that prior to the impact involving Kirk, a 2011 Honda Civic driven by Joshua D. Loggins, 25, of Birmingham, had struck the Kenworth. The sequence of events also involved a 2011 Ford Mustang driven by 71-year-old Michael D. Holloway of Warrior.

Kirk was pronounced dead at the scene. Knot, Loggins, and Holloway all sustained injuries in the crash and were subsequently transported to the University of Alabama (UAB) Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
