The landscape of Alabama high school baseball has a new standard-bearer. Will Adams recently etched his name into the history books as the 27th recipient of the Mr. Baseball award, presented during the Alabama Sports Writers Association Convention at Jacksonville State University. As the first player from Hoover High to earn the honor, Adams now sets his sights on a future at either LSU or the professional ranks.

With the 2026 season officially in the books, the conversation shifts to who will emerge as the next elite talent to claim the top prize in June 2027. Here are 10 standout candidates poised to make their mark on the diamond next year.

Top Contenders for Mr. Baseball 2027

Manning Amorde, OF, UMS-Wright (junior): A South Alabama commit, Amorde proved his worth as a Class 5A first-team All-State selection. He finished his campaign batting .464 with 35 runs, 23 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases.

Boston Brown, INF/P, Lakeside (junior): The Auburn commit anchored Lakeside's run to a second consecutive AISA state title and earned AISA Player of the Year honors. His two-way production was staggering: a 12-4 record with a 1.57 ERA and 144 strikeouts, paired with a .389 average and 49 RBIs at the plate.

Hunter Elmore, IF/P, American Christian (sophomore): The reigning Class 5A Player of the Year led ACA to the state finals. He is uncommitted and dangerous from anywhere, posting a 9-2 record with a 1.16 ERA while hitting .508 with 42 RBIs and 47 runs.

Cooper Favors, P, Glenwood (junior): Serving as the Class 3A Pitcher of the Year, Favors was instrumental in securing a second straight state championship for the Gators, recording 77 strikeouts and a 1.36 ERA across 72 innings.

Gavin Lang, SS/OF/P, Collinsville (junior): Named the Class 3A Player of the Year, Lang was a nightmare for opposing pitchers. He slashed .596 with 61 RBIs and 51 runs while also contributing an 8-2 record on the mound.

Jordan Lankford, IF, Geraldine (sophomore): The 2026 Class 3A Hitter of the Year put up massive numbers, batting .600 with 67 RBIs, 56 runs, and 31 stolen bases.

Cade Mason, P, Saraland (junior): A Class 6A first-team All-State selection, Mason dominated the competition with a 9-2 record and a minuscule 0.46 ERA, striking out 95 hitters in 61 innings.

Jace Riggan, SS/P, Hewitt-Trussville (junior): The Florida State commit and Class 7A Pitcher of the Year served as the MVP of his team’s state championship run. He finished the year 7-3-1 with a 1.06 ERA and hit .408.

Addison Senn, OF/P, Ariton (junior): After leading the Purple Cats to a Class 2A state title, Senn was named the classification's Player of the Year. He excelled with a .458 average and recorded 102 strikeouts on the mound with a 2.01 ERA.

Braden Weathers, IF, Hartselle (junior): A key piece in Hartselle's second consecutive state title run, Weathers earned Class 6A first-team All-State status after hitting .368 with 9 homers and 41 RBIs.
