2nd suspect charged in Montgomery shooting that killed 40-year-old man
Curtis Julius, 39, is charged with murder in the slaying of Eldrick McNeal, police announced Tuesday. Previously arrested was 37-year-old Travis Delbridge.
Montgomery authorities have apprehended a second suspect in connection to a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 40-year-old man earlier this month. Police officially announced on Tuesday that 39-year-old Curtis Julius is now facing a murder charge for the death of Eldrick McNeal.
This development follows the previous arrest of 37-year-old Travis Delbridge, who is also charged in the incident.
The Investigation
Officers were initially dispatched to the 3400 block of Texas Street at 11:41 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper right back. That individual was transported to Baptist South Hospital in critical condition, though their status has since been upgraded to stable.
While canvassing the area, investigators located McNeal, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency responders were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:05 a.m. on Friday.
Charging Details
According to court documents, the suspects—identified by the surviving victim as Delbridge (known as 'Trap') and Julius (known as 'Pickle'), along with an unidentified man referred to as 'Black'—arrived at the Texas Street residence under the guise of a friendly visit. The witness reported that despite their initial demeanor, the suspects were armed with a handgun and a Draco.
The survivor described hearing a loud bang followed by an immediate sensation of pain in his back. He told investigators that the shooting continued after he was struck, noting that he believed the subsequent gunfire was when McNeal was killed. 205focus.com will continue to monitor this investigation as it proceeds through the court system.
