4-star linebacker from Georgia talks Big Cat visit to Auburn
One of Auburn's 2027 defensive targets talks about his experience during Big Cat Weekend
Jeremiah Culpepper is no stranger to the Plains. Hailing from LaGrange, Georgia—just a 45-minute drive from campus—the 4-star linebacker has made the trip to Auburn multiple times. However, this past weekend offered a distinctively different experience as he joined a star-studded group of prospects for the program’s annual Big Cat recruiting event.
A Different Kind of Visit
Rather than a strictly business-like atmosphere focused on football drills, Big Cat provided a relaxed, family-oriented environment. Prospects spent their time engaging in a scavenger hunt, a wiffle ball home run derby, and a pool party.
"It gave a family atmosphere," Culpepper shared. "It gave what it was supposed to give, especially when you want people to come together and have fun."
The competitive spirit still surfaced during the festivities. Despite objections from the defensive backs, Culpepper insisted that his group took home the victory in the scavenger hunt, a moment he cited as one of the highlights of his trip.
Keeping the Focus on Football
While the atmosphere was high-energy, the blue-chip linebacker maintained his perspective. When asked if the event was the most enjoyable visit he’s ever had, Culpepper remained measured.
"I wouldn’t say that. Because I’m a football player, I like to just play ball," Culpepper said. "I love playing ball, so even if it’s just me watching and being here, that’s me having fun."
What's Next for the Tigers
Ranked as the No. 200 overall prospect in the 247Sports player rankings and the 15th-best at his position nationally, Culpepper is clearly a priority for the coaching staff. After visiting during spring practice, he has confirmed plans to return to Auburn for an official visit later this summer.
Culpepper has yet to reveal his full summer travel itinerary, but he is looking to make his commitment in July following his upcoming visits. Although he noted that he does not have a clear-cut favorite at this stage, he confirmed that Auburn is high on his list. The upcoming official visit will be a crucial opportunity for the Tigers to strengthen their position as they continue their push on the recruiting trail.
