A familiar name in groceries is coming to Tuscaloosa
The store is currently slated to open in fall 2026.
Tuscaloosa’s grocery scene is getting a major boost this year. A new Piggly Wiggly location is officially set to open its doors in Five Points this fall.
Expansion in West Alabama
B&W Foods broke the news on Tuesday, confirming that this project will serve as the company's sixth location within Tuscaloosa County and its eighth throughout west Alabama.
The new store is moving into a familiar space, taking over a vacant Winn-Dixie location that closed earlier this year. Shoppers can look forward to a revamped experience featuring a full-service bakery, a deli, and floral departments. Additionally, the store will highlight a specialty meat case stocked with custom cuts.
Commitment to Community
For the B&W Foods team, this expansion is personal. Co-owner Jay Welborn emphasized that the initiative represents a commitment to the neighborhood's future.
“Five Points has been an important part of this community for a long time, and we feel a real responsibility to bring it back the right way,” Welborn said. “As a family-owned business, we take pride in investing locally and creating a store our customers can count on for fresh food, friendly service and the dependable shopping experience they expect every day.”
