Birmingham brewery closing tasting gallery after 12 years: ‘Come raise a glass’

A staple of the Birmingham craft beer scene is moving into a new chapter. TrimTab Brewing Co. has officially announced that it will close its tasting gallery, ending a 12-year run that helped define the city's local brewery boom.

End of an Era on Fifth Avenue

The brewery confirmed through a social media statement that operations at its Fifth Avenue South location will conclude on July 4. As the final weeks approach, the team is inviting fans to stop by to share a drink and celebrate the community that supported them since their early days in the Lakeview neighborhood.

"We invite you to come raise a glass, and enjoy some beer and community with us between now and July 4," the announcement stated. Whether it's catching a final performance in the B Side, grabbing cans to-go, participating in Monday trivia, or relaxing on the patio, the brewery expressed deep gratitude for the support they have received from Birmingham and beyond.

Staying Connected

While the physical gallery is closing, TrimTab isn't disappearing entirely. The company confirmed that flagship offerings like TrimTab IPA and Paradise Now will remain available in select markets. Management indicated that further updates regarding future operations will be shared soon.

A Legacy of Craft

TrimTab made its debut in the Lakeview neighborhood in early 2014, quickly establishing a reputation as an award-winning destination before expanding into canned distribution in 2015.

The closure reflects a broader shift across Alabama, where the brewery industry, which proliferated more than a decade ago, is currently facing a period of contraction. Economic headwinds and evolving national drinking trends have forced many local producers to adapt to an increasingly challenging landscape, as reported by 205focus.com.
