Logo for popular music streaming service gets a makeover: Here’s why
Spotify marked its 20th anniversary with a redesigned app and a new personalized feature highlighting users’ listening history.
Spotify is pulling out all the stops to celebrate its 20th anniversary, treating users to a refreshed aesthetic and a trip down memory lane. As reported by 205focus.com, the streaming giant has officially kicked off its milestone festivities.
A Fresh Look and New Features
If your app looks a little more festive lately, you aren't imagining things. On May 14, Spotify updated its mobile app icon to a signature green disco ball. The company is using the occasion to launch special data drops, the centerpiece of which is Your Party of the Year(s).
"Spotify is where fans and artists come together, turning discovery into something personal, moments into movements and listening into community," the company noted in a recent press release. The new personalized feature gives listeners a recap of their personal streaming history, including their very first day on the platform, their first song streamed, an all-time most-streamed artist ranking, and a custom playlist of their most-played tracks.
Two Decades of Streaming History
Beyond individual milestones, the platform also released data highlighting the biggest performers of the last two decades. Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Drake lead the pack as the top three most-streamed artists, while The Weeknd’s "Blinding Lights" holds the title for the most-streamed song. For podcast fans, "The Joe Rogan Experience" claims the top spot as the most-streamed show in Spotify history.
How to Join the Celebration
Want to see your own personalized data? The feature is available exclusively on mobile devices. Users can access their retrospective by searching for "Spotify 20" or "Party of the Year(s)" directly inside the app, or by visiting spotify.com/20 to get started.
