New York-based global financial network expanding Birmingham office, hiring 90
The new office is expected to be 46,000 square feet, with conference and meeting rooms, audio and video capabilities, collaboration areas and social spaces.
StoneX Group is making a major move in Birmingham. The New York-based global financial services network announced on Thursday that it is expanding its local presence, a growth initiative expected to bring 90 new jobs to the city over the next three-to-five years.
A High-Tech Workspace
The expansion centers on a new 46,000-square-foot facility located in the Protective Center. This modern space is designed for connectivity and collaboration, featuring advanced audio and video capabilities, dedicated meeting rooms, and collaborative social zones. Beyond the workspace, employees will have access to a fitness center, a full cafeteria, and an on-site coffee shop, with the location boasting 310 total seats.
A Legacy in the Magic City
StoneX, a Fortune 500 company, has maintained a deep history in Birmingham for more than 25 years through its securities clearing operations. The firm's local footprint was further solidified in 2016 when it acquired Sterne Agee, a storied broker-dealer that had been operating in the South since 1901.
Investing in Birmingham Talent
Maribeth Williams, head of securities operations at StoneX, noted that Birmingham has remained a meaningful pillar of the company's global platform. According to Williams, the city's strong talent base and deep financial roots provide an ideal environment for scaling critical operations.
Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair echoed that sentiment, describing the expansion as further proof of Birmingham's competitive standing and the long-term value that the city and state offer to growing companies.
