Target issues nationwide recall for popular accessory: Serious injury, death risk
More than 200,000 kids accessories sold nationwide at Target are being recalled after receiving reports of small pieces breaking off — posing serious injury, choking and death hazards.
Target has issued a nationwide recall for more than 200,000 pairs of children’s shoes due to a significant safety concern. The recall involves specific Cat & Jack-branded sandals that pose potential choking hazards, which could lead to serious injury or death.
Recall Details
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 211,000 pairs of these sandals—sold between January 2020 and May 2026—are affected. The recall was prompted by reports of pearls detaching from the footwear.
To date, there have been 23 reported incidents of pearls falling off the sandals. While no injuries have been confirmed, the potential risk of choking remains a serious threat. Families are urged to take the product away from children immediately and stop all use.
Product Identification
The recalled items are tan sandals featuring two raffia straps, plastic pearls, and gold-toned buckles. The brand name is visible on the sole, and the shoes were sold in sizes 5T through 12T. These sandals were imported by Minneapolis-based Target and manufactured in Cambodia.
Refund Information
These sandals were available at Target locations nationwide and online at target.com from January through May 2026, retailing for approximately $20. If you have this product, 205focus.com recommends contacting Target to arrange for a full refund. Consumers may return the sandals to any Target store or use a prepaid label to return them by mail.
