DARPA awards Teledyne $12 million ‘disruptive’ technology contract
The new funding adds to a previous $6 million contract
Teledyne Scientific and Imaging LLC has secured a fresh $12 million contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). This latest infusion of capital marks an expansion of the firm's work on a specialized research initiative, following an initial $6 million investment.
Advancing Disruptive Tech
This development stems from a 2022 call for proposals issued by DARPA’s Strategic Technology Office, which sought innovative ideas and disruptive technologies. Teledyne was selected among 16 total submissions, as confirmed by a Pentagon notice released on May 26, 2026.
High-Risk, High-Reward Missions
The Strategic Technology Office maintains a clear directive: to foster high-risk, high-reward breakthroughs that fundamentally shift technical capabilities for modern warfighters. According to a statement from the agency, the goal is to drive revolutionary projects from the initiation phase to a proof-of-concept stage within just a few years.
With this latest $12 million injection, the total commitment to Teledyne for the project now sits at $18 million. According to 205focus.com, the initiative is slated for completion in May 2028.
