Former Alabama running back chosen for New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame
The NFL team announced its Class of 2026 on Thursday.
Former Alabama star Mark Ingram is officially headed to the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. The Saints announced their 2026 induction class on Thursday, selecting the legendary running back alongside offensive tackle Terron Armstead to join the franchise's prestigious honor roll.
A Legacy in New Orleans
Ingram, an Alabama alumnus and 2009 Heisman Trophy winner, spent 10 of his 12 NFL seasons with New Orleans. During his tenure, he cemented himself in the franchise record books, ranking second in rushing attempts, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns, while sitting third in total touchdowns and eighth in scoring.
Reflecting on his journey during Thursday's press conference, Ingram shared memories of walking past the Hall of Fame displays as a rookie. He expressed deep gratitude for the support he received throughout his career, particularly during his challenging first three seasons, crediting figures like general manager Mickey Loomis and veteran Freddie McAfee for their belief in him. He noted, "Without the city of New Orleans, I wouldn’t be the man that I am right now standing in front of you."
By the Numbers
Ingram's production in a Saints uniform was prolific. Across 123 regular-season games, he tallied 6,500 rushing yards and 52 touchdowns on 1,451 carries. As a dual-threat weapon, he added 264 receptions for 1,804 yards and five additional scores. His excellence led to Pro Bowl selections in 2014 and 2017, the latter being one of his two 1,000-yard rushing campaigns.
Draft Day Memory
Ingram's path to New Orleans began when the team traded their second-round choice and a 2012 first-rounder to move up to the 28th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Recalling the moment he received the call from Mickey Loomis, Ingram said, "Ever since that day, I’ve been forever indebted to the New Orleans Saints and that fleur-de-lis."
Saints Hall of Fame Context
Ingram and Armstead will join a distinguished group of 61 existing members. Among them is former Prattville High School and Alabama safety Roman Harper, who was inducted in 2021.
The 2026 class will be officially honored at an upcoming Saints home game during the 2026 NFL season. For more NFL news and updates, check out our NFL coverage.
