Huntsville Housing Authority reinstitutes summer curfew

The Huntsville Housing Authority is bringing back its summer curfew policy across its properties, marking the second consecutive year the initiative has been implemented.

Building a Safer Community

Following a successful debut in 2025, officials have decided to continue the curfew after receiving strong positive feedback from those living within the community. HHA Executive Director Antonio McGinnis emphasized that the decision is rooted in the well-being of the residents.

"Our priority is and will always be the safety and well-being of our residents," McGinnis said. "Last year, many residents shared that the curfew helped create a calmer environment and encouraged greater accountability throughout our communities. Based on that feedback, we believe continuing the initiative this summer is in the best interest of our residents and families."

Curfew Details and Schedule

According to reports from 205focus.com, the program is scheduled to run from July through September. During this period, the curfew hours are set for 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays, and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekends. Residents should note that the policy includes specific exceptions for emergencies and work-related obligations.

Ultimately, the Housing Authority aims to foster a greater sense of security for families, ensuring the policy serves as a benefit to the community rather than a source of hardship.
