A major snack recall is currently impacting store shelves across 21 states after discovery of potential metal contamination in a popular frozen appetizer. According to 205focus.com, nearly 160,000 pounds of product are included in the safety alert.

Recall Details and Safety Risks

New York-based Rich Products Corp has pulled 6,408 cases—totaling 160,200 pounds—of Farm Rich Pizza Cheese Crunchers from the market. The recall, which officially began on May 19, was triggered by reports that the items may contain foreign metal objects, as detailed in an enforcement report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

On June 9, the FDA designated this a Class II safety risk. This classification indicates that consuming the contaminated snacks could lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.

States Affected and Consumer Advice

The recall impacts Farm Rich Pizza Cheese Crunchers distributed to retail locations in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

If you have these products in your freezer, do not eat them. The FDA advises that consumers should either throw the items away or return them to the retailer where they were originally purchased.
