Chipotle is bringing some serious heat to the end of the NBA championships with a massive giveaway centered entirely around the number 53.

Why 53?

The number holds special significance this season. It highlights the history of the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs—dating back to 1973—and shines a spotlight on the 53 fresh ingredients that make up the Chipotle menu. To celebrate, the chain is dropping 53,000 free burritos immediately after the final buzzer sounds.

According to a company press release, fans should keep a close eye on X immediately following the final game. Chipotle will post a text-to-win code that unlocks these entrée codes. Once the code is live, the first 53,000 fans to text it to 888-222 will secure their free meal.

"This year’s series created a connection we couldn’t ignore: 53 years tied to a unique championship storyline and 53 real ingredients that define Chipotle," said Stephanie Perdue, senior vice president of brand marketing at Chipotle. "Giving away 53,000 free burritos is our way of bringing that story to life for fans."

Star Power Hits the Menu

The excitement continues off the court with a new "Time for Real" ad campaign featuring NBA stars Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges. Both players are teaming up with the brand to promote their personal high-protein favorites, which are now available for a limited time on the digital menu.

Fans can now order the Josh Hart High Protein Burrito or the Mikal Bridges High Protein Bowl directly through the Chipotle app or at Chipotle.com.

"As two of basketball’s most versatile players, Hart and Bridges have built their games around energy, consistency and doing a little bit of everything on the floor," the press release noted. "Their Chipotle orders reflect that same approach, featuring real, protein-packed ingredients designed to fuel performance and everyday routines."
