According to Sheriff Matthew Wade, Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies responded around 8:30 p.m. to the 400 block of Church Street in Hobson City.

They discovered the victim lying in the road with a stab wound to his chest.

A deputy provided aid to the man until Oxford EMS arrived and transported him to UAB Hospital in Birmingham with life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff Wade reported that deputies found a witness who identified Oshae Dontrell Ball, 31, as the suspect. A lookout bulletin was issued, and Oxford police officers later apprehended him.

Ball was booked into the Calhoun County Jail on a charge of first-degree assault and is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
