NFL quarterback credits wife with repairing relationship with family
The quarterback appeared on the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is opening up about a significant personal milestone. The 42-year-old signal-caller recently shared that his wife, Brittani, played a pivotal role in helping him reconcile with his family after years of well-publicized estrangement.
A Path to Reconciliation
Speaking with Kyle Brandt on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Rodgers explained that his marriage provided the perspective needed to address his strained relationship with his parents, Darla and Ed Rodgers, as well as his older brother, Luke Rodgers. While the conflict has been a topic of public speculation since his brother Jordan Rodgers first addressed the family rift on 'The Bachelorette' in 2016, Aaron noted that the process of healing has been a multi-year journey.
“A big part of it was getting married and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together,” Rodgers told the network. “It’s been a couple-year process now.”
Full-Circle Moments
Rodgers emphasized that while he remains protective of his private life, he felt it was time to move past the long-standing narrative surrounding his family. The reconnection has led to meaningful time spent together, including a recent trip to Nashville where he was able to spend quality time with his parents, his brother, and his nieces and nephews.
“I got to be an uncle,” Rodgers said, reflecting on the experience. “I’m happy to be reunited, and that part of my life is a really beautiful addition.”
The quarterback, who shared photos of the family reunion on Instagram last month, was quick to credit his wife for her unwavering support throughout the transition. According to Rodgers, Brittani provided the love and environment necessary for him to bridge the gap with his relatives, characterizing the last year of his life as a "full-circle" experience.
